Hark the Herald | Herald Angels

My grandparents had a wooden hand-made manger set and the figures were made out of chalk.  There was an angel at the top of the manger.  The other pieces broke over the years.  But the angel remained in tack and I have it hanging in my house year round.  It is a constant reminder to me of their love for family and how traditions are important.

The Herald Angels (SS-0347) stamp set reminds me of the angel from their manger.  I hope you enjoy my creation.

Hark the Herald

I used an acrylic block and added a small puddle of our Lovely Blue (IP-0134) Liquid Color and diluted it with water by using our Media Mister (TO-0121).  Then using the Small Dauber Dowel (TO-0137), I applied it to a piece of Whip Cream (CS-0040) cardstock.  I wanted to give it a cloud/sky effect.  After that dried, I inked up the Vintage Notes (SS-0303) stamp set in Oatmeal Cookie (IP-0011) ink.  I embossed the sentiments by mixing Black (IP-0099) and Silver (IP-0100) embossing powder together.  I added some Sparkle (IP-0126) and Silver Silk (IP-0090) as well.

On another piece of Whip Cream (CS-0040) cardstock, I embossed the angels using Silver (IP-0100) embossing powder.  [I love how our embossing powder really shows the details of this stamp set].  Using the same Lovely Blue Liquid Color (IP-0134) and water combination, I added some Sparkle Silk (IP-0126) to it and then colored the angel using a Small Blending Brush (TO-0097).  I made sure to make the wings lighter than their gown.

Using the Color Burst pencils (JM-0077) I colored in the arms, face and hair of the angel.

I cut out the angels using our Detail Shears (TO-0063) [there is a die for the set but I was just in the mood to fussy cut, so I did].  The angels were then popped up on the card front using Foam Squares (AD-0085) [glad I stocked up on those from the Black Friday sale].

The Whip Cream card front was adhered to a piece of Mirror Silver (CS-0137) paper before being adhered to a Denim Days (CS-0082) card base.

I added some Fashion Silver (AC-0293) to finish off the card.

Oatmeal Cookie cardstock is a must have for me when I am making my holiday cards.  I love the vintage look it gives.  Very simplistic.

For this card I took a piece of Oatmeal Cookie (CS-0023) card stock and stamped the Vintage Notes (SS-0303) background stamp in Oatmeal Cookie (IP-0011) ink.  I stamped the words Wishing you a in Black Licorice (IP-0041) ink that come from the Holiday Wishes (SS-0469) stamp set.  The small Poinsettia (Poinsettia Burst Bundle – BD-0295) was stamped in Cranberry Bliss (IP-0049) ink directly onto the Oatmeal Cookie panel and colored in the middle using #016 from the Journey Color Burst Pencils (JM-0077).  I added some Gold Silk (IP-0096) before adhering it to the Raspberry Berry (CS-0097) card base.

Using the large Poinsettia from the Poinsettia Burst Bundle (BD-0295), I stamped that in Cranberry Bliss ink onto a scrap piece of Butter Cream (CS-0006) cardstock and cut it out using the coordinating die.  I colored the center the same way as the smaller one.  Taking some Journey Gold Thread (AC-0205), I made a loop and adhered the thread and Pointsettia with a couple of Foam Squares (AD-0085) to the Oatmeal Cookie panel.  I felt it needed a little something, so I added Journey Glaze (AD-0003) and Sparkle Cuts (AC-0151) to the center of the large Poinsettia.

On the inside Merry Christmas from the Sparkle Trim (SS-0495) stamp set was stamped in Cranberry Bliss ink onto a Butter Cream panel.

I don’t know about you but I could totally go for an Oatmeal Cookie right now!

Vintage Sound/Happy Birthday

I love music!!!  There was nothing like listening to a record on the record player.  Listening to all the clicks and pops and yes the times when you had to put a penny on the needle so it wouldn’t skip (boy have we come a long way).  LOL – so the minute I saw the Vintage Sound stamp set (SS-0328) I had to get it.  I just knew it would be a big hit!  I decided to make a birthday card with it for another music lover in my family.

Vintage Sound
Vintage Sound Stamp Set (SS-0328)

I stamped the guitar from the Vintage Sound Stamp Set (SS-0328) onto a Hazelnut Blend (CS-0013) card base using Dark Roast (IP-0050) ink.  I used some of the images from the same stamp and embossed them onto Whip Cream (CS-0040) cardstock.  Before embossing I prep my cardstock by using our Colorless Blender (JM-0095) to help reduce the static.  The records and music notes from the Vintage Sound Stamp Set were stamped with Clear Pigment Ink (IP-0102) and embossed using Black Embossing Powder (IP-0099) and for the record adapter, I stamped the image in Lemon Drop (IP-0043) Ink and the very quickly applied Clear Embossing Powder (IP-0097).  [Our inks dry quickly (which I love) so I wanted to make sure that I applied the Clear Embossing Powder right away and then heat set with the Heat Tool (TO-0083). ]

Vintage Sound 2
Love how the records look embossed.

I added some Silver Silk (IP-0090) and Turbo Teal Silk (IP-0119) to the panel before I adhered it to a piece of Pool Play (CS-0092) cardstock which I popped up using Foam Squares (AD-0085) onto the Hazelnut Blend card base.

I cut a piece of Vellum (PP-0044) using our Journey Circle Dies (DI-0039) (these come with a piercing element as well).  Popped that up using Foam Squares and added a piece of Journey Silver Thread (AC-0204) before adding the sentiment that was stamped in Dark Roast Ink (IP-0050) onto Whip Cream cardstock and cut out using the Details Pro Shears (TO-0063).

I felt the card still needed a little something so I added some of our Rainbow Drops (AC-0178). (You get a variety of colors and sizes with these gems – I have 2 sets, one to use and one to just look at!).

I wanted to add a little something to the inside of the card as well so I used Pool Play Ink (IP-0051) to stamp the Vintage Notes (SS-0303).  I didn’t want a full impression so when I applied the ink I made sure that it was applied randomly to the image.  Happy Birthday was stamped in Dark Roast Ink (IP-0050) and came from the Cake Time Stamp Set (SS-0138).  I wanted to continue the pattern from the front of the card so I added some Silver Silk and Turbo Teal Silk to the inside of the card as well.

Vintage Sound 3
Love to bring elements from the outside of the card to the inside.

I love the images from the Vintage Sound stamp set and didn’t get to use them all on this card so I just had to stamp the envelope (ST-0118) as well.

Vintage Sound Env
Used more images from the Vintage Notes Stamp Set to decorate the envelope.

With Sympathy – Nature

Sadly it has been definitely a year for sympathy cards.  It seems lately I need one every week.  I like to personalize the cards that I make for the recipient.  I think it means so much more.  Recently I needed a more masculine sympathy card.  This is what I came up with.

Nature Sympathy
With Sympathy – Nature

I enjoy making cards, it is my way of distressing.  My hope is that my hand-made kindness touches the recipient in some way.  I have to share that there have been several times when I have sent a sympathy card to someone and they have commented to me how much it meant to them.  I do what I do because I enjoy it but it does warm my heart knowing that I have touched someone by hand-made kindness.
