Happy Birthday

I needed a birthday card and I was having crafters block!  I started playing around with the Thread Sketch and Brush Stroke stamp sets.  After coming up with my design, I started to stamp the words Happy Birthday from the Cake Time stamp set.  And as I was getting ready to put the card front on the base, I realized that I totally stamped the words – Happy Birthday in the wrong direction given that I already stamped the inside sentiment.

So I was in a dilemma, do I re-stamp the whole card front (which would have not taken me very long) or to I re-stamp the inside sentiment.  Or do I try to make it work.  Being pressed for time, I decided to see what I could do to make it work.

This is the end result.

Some mistakes turn out to be the best looking cards.

I decided to stamp the Happy Birthday in the other direction.  I was very pleased how it turned out.

Then I went a little overboard with the Happy Birthday – but it looks fun!

Of course I need to add some of our Silver Silk and Sparkle Silk!!!  Never can have too much silk!

Note that the Brush Stroke was on the Break-up Sale list and is no longer available but you could get a similar look from using our dauber dowels.

You Fill My Days with Joy

From the first moment I saw the Peach Blossom set, I knew I had to emboss it in gold!!!!

I used the reinkers with our Fusion Blender to color in the flower.  You can come up with some fantastic color combinations.  You can either put the fusion blender in one of the blender brushes or put it on an acrylic block.   Then put a couple drops of the reinker on another acrylic block.  You would just keep picking up a little of the fusion blender and some of the color depending on how deep you want the color.  It is a nice alternative to color pencils.

Sparkle Silk added to the pedals/Journey Glaze added to the center

I added some Sparkle Silk to the pedals of the flowers and then added some Journey Glaze in the middle of the flower.  Journey Glaze was added to random spots on the cardstock just to give it some added dimension.Days with Joy 2 copy

You can’t tell from the photo but I used one of the stamps from the Brushstroke stamp set to stamp the Buttercream card base.  I used Buttercream ink.  I wanted to add a little something to the cardstock but didn’t want it to over power the card.

I finished the card off with some Gold and Dark Roast silks.  Added Olive Green Satin Ribbon and was done.

I really like how the gold embossing really gives detail to the flower.

Backyard BBQ

I am just loving the Spring into Summer Trends Mini Catalog!!!!!  From the stamps sets to Sparkle Silk to the Silver Sparkle Tape to the embellishments.  All I can say is WOW!!!

I am in love with this chalk board look using Clear Pigment Ink and our Pan Pastels.

BBQ Bash/Meat Market/Bucket List

To get the chalk board look, you first stamp your image in Clear Pigment Ink. Then taking the Whip Cream Pan Pastels (from our Party Pop collection), you pat the color on the stamped images.  Once that is done you can wipe the whole piece of cardstock with the Whip Cream Pan Pastels.  Add as little or as much as you want.  It is very important to tap first so that you don’t smear the Clear Pigment Ink.

I wanted to kick it up a notch so I decorated the inside of the card as well using the Simply Bootiful Bundle.  I really think it helped to finish off the card.

Added Sparkle Silk to the Boots to give them a little extra WOW!

What a fun way to invite guests to a Backyard BBQ, Pig Roast, Father’s Day Gathering, Graduation Party or Barn Raising!!!!  So kick up your heels this summer for some real BBQing!!!!
