Nuture Your Dream | Small Things |Shaker Card

I love learning new techniques and working with new products.  When Fun Stampers Journey introduced their Liquid Colors last year, I was intrigued by them and the more and more I use them, I just love them.

A few weeks ago I participated in a craft retreat. Here is one of the projects we made using Liquid Color.

Nuture Your Dreams

A piece of Summer Days (CS-0033) was embossing using the Corrugated Board Embossing Folder (EF-0017).  The Small Things Bundle (BD-0373) was used to  cut the Butterfly out of the embossed piece.  Then on a piece of Whip Cream (CS-004) card stock, one of the Butterfly images from the Small Things Bundle (BD-0373) was stamped in Black Licorice ink (IP-0041).  The image was colored in using a Blending Brush (TO-0097 and TO-0098) and Liquid Color.

The card was made into a shaker card, you can use a Clear View sheet (CS-0121) or we made a pouch that was made out of a small plastic bag.  Special Celebrations (AC-0115) were added to make the shaker elements.

Foam Squares (AD-0085) were used to pop up the corrugated piece onto the Whip Cream card base.

The sentiment was stamped in Black Licorice ink on Whip Cream cardstock and I fussy cut it out but there is a coordinating die in the bundle that you can use as well. The sentiment was popped up using Foam Squares (AD-0084).

Our Liquid Colors are simply amazing to color with. They are available for purchase individually.  You can save some money by purchasing the original 12 colors as Bundle (BD-0303) and then adding on the remaining colors [Watermelon Fusion (IP-0142), Lavender Fusion (IP-0141) and Cool Pool (IP-0140)] that were added throughout the year.

Snowman Shaker Card |Falala

So I have a funny story about this card.  When I first saw the Christmas Pals (SS-0483) stamp set in the Annual Catalog, I sort of liked it but never thought I would use it, so I passed it over.  When I would look through the catalog for other items to buy, I would keep going back to this stamp set but kept saying, “what would I do with it”.  I have to let you know that my brain never shuts off!!!  I mean never, I am constantly thinking of card ideas or how could I use this or that product differently [anyone else have that same issue?].  Well one morning I jumped out of bed and ordered the Christmas Pals stamp set immediately.  I had an idea and it would be perfect for a Holiday Class I had coming up.  I could not wait for it to come in so that I could start creating.  And as the saying goes, “A Star Card was Born” (LOL) [or in this case a Snowman].

Snowman Shaker 1

I want to focus on how I made the shaker card itself, so that this post isn’t too long. But have not fear, I will add the supply list for the other items used in this card at the end of this post.

Using the Journey Rectangles Dies (DI-0041), I cut a window opening into a piece of Catalina Splash (CS-0114) cardstock and embossed it with the Falala Embossing Folder (EF-0021).   I adhered a piece of our Clearview (CS-0121) sheets to the back of the Catalina Splash embossed piece using our White Liner (AD-0001)  .  I used foam tape [you could use foam squares, but the foam tape was easier for me and I had it in my stash] and added that on top of the clearview sheet (outlining the opening).  [You have to make sure you have no gaps or your shaker elements will fall out.]  Then I added my shaker elements making sure to spread them around the window and not over fill.  I then adhered the Pool Play piece making sure the stamping was facing the window.  This was adhered to the card base using Easy Glide (AD-0081).

For the inside of the card, I took the same Christmas Pal elements to actually build the snowman but instead of using Whip Cream ink like I did on the card front, I used Lovely Blue (IP-IP-0075).  Lovely Blue is not an ink that you would actually stamp in as it is so light and really designed for backgrounds like the sky or clouds.  But it worked perfect here seeing that I was stamping on Whip Cream cardstock and didn’t want to use an ink that would be too dark.

The inside sentiment is not Fun Stampers Journey but rather one that I had in my stash.  I just had to use it since I thought it went perfectly with this card and really finished it off.

I really had a lot of fun making this card and best of all the folks in my class that made it really enjoyed it was well!!!  Always fun learning a new technique and making an interactive card.

May all your hand-made creations be Inked with Kindness, Stamped with Love.
