Dutch Door/Barn Door Card | Best Wishes

I have heard this type of card called a Dutch Door Card or Barn Door Card.  I thought I would share this with you so that you can see more of the prints in action from the Spring Filled Prints (PP-0051).

Best Wishes Dutch Door4

I layered some of the patterns from the Spring Filled Prints (PP-0051)  onto pieces of Lemon Grass (CS-0019) before adhering them to a Bubble Gum (CS-0099) card base.  Using the Spring Botanicals (SS-0544), I stamped the flower image on Whip Cream (CS-0040) in Watermelon Fusion (IP-0027) ink and then the stems in Lemon Grass (IP-0022) ink.  I used the Journey Ovals (DI-0042) to cut out the stamped piece.  Using Lemon Grass (IP-0022) ink, I stamped the Best Wishes from the Everyday Script Bundle (BD-0344) onto a piece of Bubble Gum (CS-0099) card stock before cutting it out using the coordinating die.

Using Sparkle Silk (IP-0126) and a Small Blending Brush (TO-0097), I brushed the Sparkle Silk onto the floral image.

Best Wishes Dutch Door4

Using the Just Write Gel Pens (JD-0060), I traced over the letters in Best Wishes to add a little more interest.

Best Wishes Dutch Door5

I adhered the pieces onto the card base using Easy Glide (AD-0081.  I still felt that it needed something so I added some Fashion Gold (AC-0292).  I really think they helped to finish off the card.

And because I am curious, what do you call this type of card, Dutch Door or Barn Door.  Drop me a comment and let me know.

Best Wishes

I Love, Love, Love the new Spring Filled Prints (PP-0051) that is in the new Bloom This Way Mini Trends Catalog (CL-0030)!!!!!  They are so beautiful!!!!

I stamped the saying Best Wishes from the Everyday Script Bundle (BD-0344) in Black Licorice (IP-0041) ink onto a piece of Bubble Gum (CS-0099) card stock and cut it out using the coordinating die.

Best Wishes 1

I added Sparkle Silk (IP-0126) to the Best Wishes piece and well as the Spring Filled Prints (PP-0051) piece.  Using Easy Glide (AD-0081) I adhered the Spring Filled Prints piece to a piece of Watermelon Fusion (CS-0039) before adhering it to the Whip Cream (CS-0040) card base.  Using Foam Squares (AD-0084 and AD-0085), I popped up the Best Wishes onto the lower right corner of the card front.

Best Wishes 3

I love that the focal point of this card is really the Spring Filled Prints (PP-0051).  They are so beautiful that they really should take center stage.

Warm Wishes |Snowflakes | Snow Blooms

Seeing that it is now officially winter and it snowed overnight in the Northeast, I thought this card was very fitting for today.  I love everything about this card and I have to thank one of my fellow coaches LeAnn for the inspiration.  I love the colors, style and yes the Mirror Silver (CS-0137) paper!!!

Warm Wishes Snowflakes

On a piece of Whip Cream (CS-0137) card stock, I stamped the images from the Snow Burst (SS-0144) stamp set in Cool Pool (IP-0074) ink.  Then I stamped the words Warm Wishes from the Hello Fall (SS-0450) stamp set in Black Licorice (IP-0041) ink.   Before I adhered this panel to a piece of Cool Pool (CS-0118), I added some Sparkle Silk (IP-0126).

The Cool Pool panel was adhered to a Whip Cream (CS-0040) card base.  For the center snow flakes, I used the Snow Blooms Die (DI-0253) to cut the images out of Mirror Silver (CS-0137) and Cool Pool (CS-0118) card stock.  I adhered the larger one onto the card front using a Foam Square (AD-0085) and then used Glue Dots (AD-0083) to adhere the other snowflakes on top of the big one.  To finish it off  I added a Sparkle Drop (AC-0022) in the center of the snowflakes.  I love these, they come in different sizes and are just so pretty.

This is by far my favorite card of the season!!

Snowman Shaker Card |Falala

So I have a funny story about this card.  When I first saw the Christmas Pals (SS-0483) stamp set in the Annual Catalog, I sort of liked it but never thought I would use it, so I passed it over.  When I would look through the catalog for other items to buy, I would keep going back to this stamp set but kept saying, “what would I do with it”.  I have to let you know that my brain never shuts off!!!  I mean never, I am constantly thinking of card ideas or how could I use this or that product differently [anyone else have that same issue?].  Well one morning I jumped out of bed and ordered the Christmas Pals stamp set immediately.  I had an idea and it would be perfect for a Holiday Class I had coming up.  I could not wait for it to come in so that I could start creating.  And as the saying goes, “A Star Card was Born” (LOL) [or in this case a Snowman].

Snowman Shaker 1

I want to focus on how I made the shaker card itself, so that this post isn’t too long. But have not fear, I will add the supply list for the other items used in this card at the end of this post.

Using the Journey Rectangles Dies (DI-0041), I cut a window opening into a piece of Catalina Splash (CS-0114) cardstock and embossed it with the Falala Embossing Folder (EF-0021).   I adhered a piece of our Clearview (CS-0121) sheets to the back of the Catalina Splash embossed piece using our White Liner (AD-0001)  .  I used foam tape [you could use foam squares, but the foam tape was easier for me and I had it in my stash] and added that on top of the clearview sheet (outlining the opening).  [You have to make sure you have no gaps or your shaker elements will fall out.]  Then I added my shaker elements making sure to spread them around the window and not over fill.  I then adhered the Pool Play piece making sure the stamping was facing the window.  This was adhered to the card base using Easy Glide (AD-0081).

Snowman Shaker 2

For the inside of the card, I took the same Christmas Pal elements to actually build the snowman but instead of using Whip Cream ink like I did on the card front, I used Lovely Blue (IP-IP-0075).  Lovely Blue is not an ink that you would actually stamp in as it is so light and really designed for backgrounds like the sky or clouds.  But it worked perfect here seeing that I was stamping on Whip Cream cardstock and didn’t want to use an ink that would be too dark.

Snowman Shaker 3

The inside sentiment is not Fun Stampers Journey but rather one that I had in my stash.  I just had to use it since I thought it went perfectly with this card and really finished it off.

I really had a lot of fun making this card and best of all the folks in my class that made it really enjoyed it was well!!!  Always fun learning a new technique and making an interactive card.
