Vintage Sound/Happy Birthday

I love music!!!  There was nothing like listening to a record on the record player.  Listening to all the clicks and pops and yes the times when you had to put a penny on the needle so it wouldn’t skip (boy have we come a long way).  LOL – so the minute I saw the Vintage Sound stamp set (SS-0328) I had to get it.  I just knew it would be a big hit!  I decided to make a birthday card with it for another music lover in my family.

Vintage Sound
Vintage Sound Stamp Set (SS-0328)

I stamped the guitar from the Vintage Sound Stamp Set (SS-0328) onto a Hazelnut Blend (CS-0013) card base using Dark Roast (IP-0050) ink.  I used some of the images from the same stamp and embossed them onto Whip Cream (CS-0040) cardstock.  Before embossing I prep my cardstock by using our Colorless Blender (JM-0095) to help reduce the static.  The records and music notes from the Vintage Sound Stamp Set were stamped with Clear Pigment Ink (IP-0102) and embossed using Black Embossing Powder (IP-0099) and for the record adapter, I stamped the image in Lemon Drop (IP-0043) Ink and the very quickly applied Clear Embossing Powder (IP-0097).  [Our inks dry quickly (which I love) so I wanted to make sure that I applied the Clear Embossing Powder right away and then heat set with the Heat Tool (TO-0083). ]

Love how the records look embossed.

I added some Silver Silk (IP-0090) and Turbo Teal Silk (IP-0119) to the panel before I adhered it to a piece of Pool Play (CS-0092) cardstock which I popped up using Foam Squares (AD-0085) onto the Hazelnut Blend card base.

I cut a piece of Vellum (PP-0044) using our Journey Circle Dies (DI-0039) (these come with a piercing element as well).  Popped that up using Foam Squares and added a piece of Journey Silver Thread (AC-0204) before adding the sentiment that was stamped in Dark Roast Ink (IP-0050) onto Whip Cream cardstock and cut out using the Details Pro Shears (TO-0063).

I felt the card still needed a little something so I added some of our Rainbow Drops (AC-0178). (You get a variety of colors and sizes with these gems – I have 2 sets, one to use and one to just look at!).

I wanted to add a little something to the inside of the card as well so I used Pool Play Ink (IP-0051) to stamp the Vintage Notes (SS-0303).  I didn’t want a full impression so when I applied the ink I made sure that it was applied randomly to the image.  Happy Birthday was stamped in Dark Roast Ink (IP-0050) and came from the Cake Time Stamp Set (SS-0138).  I wanted to continue the pattern from the front of the card so I added some Silver Silk and Turbo Teal Silk to the inside of the card as well.

Love to bring elements from the outside of the card to the inside.

I love the images from the Vintage Sound stamp set and didn’t get to use them all on this card so I just had to stamp the envelope (ST-0118) as well.

Used more images from the Vintage Notes Stamp Set to decorate the envelope.

Oh Scrap!

Believe it or not, I ran out of Birthday and Thank You cards.  I thought I had made enough extra ones to get me through for a couple of weeks but I was mistaken.   This is not a bad thing.  I feel very blessed to have people in my life that I can make cards for.  But my initial reaction was Oh Scrap!!!  Literally!  I have a bin of scrap cardstock in various sizes and colors.  I have an addiction to paper so I hate to throw any of it away no matter how small (yes, I wish there was a support group for this).  Any who….I reached for the bin and went to town.

Oh Scrap 2
Great use of cardstock scraps!!

I was a on roll with the Birthday cards so I thought why not use the same idea for Thank You cards.

Oh Scrap
Thank You is currently a Bloom Benefit Stamp

I popped up the card front onto the card base and of added Silver Silk and Sparkle Silk.

This is a great way to use up scraps, come up with some unique designs and I can’t wait to try this with my scrap bin of patterned cardstock too!

Bloom Benefit – just a reminder that you get to choose a Bloom Benefit for every $50 you order.

Happy Birthday

I needed a birthday card and I was having crafters block!  I started playing around with the Thread Sketch and Brush Stroke stamp sets.  After coming up with my design, I started to stamp the words Happy Birthday from the Cake Time stamp set.  And as I was getting ready to put the card front on the base, I realized that I totally stamped the words – Happy Birthday in the wrong direction given that I already stamped the inside sentiment.

So I was in a dilemma, do I re-stamp the whole card front (which would have not taken me very long) or to I re-stamp the inside sentiment.  Or do I try to make it work.  Being pressed for time, I decided to see what I could do to make it work.

This is the end result.

Happy Birthday Sketch
Some mistakes turn out to be the best looking cards.

I decided to stamp the Happy Birthday in the other direction.  I was very pleased how it turned out.

Happy Birthday Sketch2
Then I went a little overboard with the Happy Birthday – but it looks fun!

Of course I need to add some of our Silver Silk and Sparkle Silk!!!  Never can have too much silk!

Note that the Brush Stroke was on the Break-up Sale list and is no longer available but you could get a similar look from using our dauber dowels.

Extreme Ride

In my previous post (Stay Wild/Adventure Awaits/Panpastels), I used the sentiments from the Adventure Awaits stamp set (SS-0034).  The sentiments from that stamp set really compliments the Extreme Ride (SS-0036) stamp set and I had to make a card using both!  I love when you can use a stamp set for several different occasions.  Makes the investment worth it!

My friend and fellow coach, Michelle P. and I both fell in love with the stamp set Extreme Ride (SS-0036).  My head was spinning with ideas of how to use it (there are so many ways you can use this cool stamp set).  After much brain storming, we both had several ideas that we couldn’t wait to get on paper!!!

Here’s mine.  (Thanks Michelle for keeping my creative juices flowing!)

Dirt Bike – Happy Birthday/Sentiment on Front

I stamped off, when stamping the ATV and Dirt Bike background image using Denim Days ink (IP-0010).  I wanted to give the effect of the ATV/Dirt Bike being in action.  The darker (main) image was stamped in Black Licorice ink (IP-0041) and cut out using the coordinating dies.  To have the card  look even more action packed, I popped up the middle image using our Journey Foam Squares.

I needed to make some cards that were blank inside, so adding both the Happy Birthday greeting and the sentiment on the outside worked out very well with this layout.

This is a great card to make for any power sport enthusiast (male or female) and at any age!  The  Extreme Ride stamp set and coordinating dies can be purchased separately.  However, they are also available to purchase as a bundle at a savings.
